Zan Berube to Join Off-Broadway’s ‘Heathers The Musical’

The Off-Broadway revival of “Heathers The Musical” is welcoming a new queen bee to Westerberg High. Zan Berube will take over the role of Heather Chandler beginning April 27 at New World Stages. Current star Peyton List will give her final performance in the role on April 26.

Berube joins the production following recent stage appearances including Lorraine Baines in the national tour of “Back to the Future” and Anne Boleyn in the touring production of “SIX.” She will step into the iconic villain role alongside several newly announced cast members joining the Off-Broadway revival this spring.

Beginning April 26, Isabella Esler and John Cardoza will assume the roles of Veronica Sawyer and J.D., respectively. Current Veronica Kuhoo Verma will play her final performance April 12, with standby Sara Al-Bazali scheduled to take over the role from April 13 to 26. Casey Likes, who originated the role of J.D. in the revival’s cast, will also depart the production on April 26.

The current revival of “Heathers The Musical” opened July 10, 2025, and is scheduled to run through September 6 at New World Stages. The cult-favorite show returns to the same Off-Broadway venue that hosted its original New York run.

Andy Fickman directs the revival, which features choreography by Gary Lloyd with additional choreography by Stephanie Klemons. The creative team also includes set and costume designer David Shields, co-costume designer Siena Zoë Allen, lighting designer Ben Cracknell, and sound designer Dan Samson.

The musical first premiered in Los Angeles in 2013 before transferring Off-Broadway to New World Stages in 2014. Following a revised 2018 West End production and multiple tours, the current revival incorporates several new songs and script updates that are being heard in New York for the first time.

“Heathers The Musical” continues its Off-Broadway engagement at New World Stages through early September. For more information and additional details, theatergoers can visit Heathersthemusical.com
