BTS Fans Cry Foul After Ticketmaster Cancels Tickets, Saying They Should Have Been Held Back for VIP Sale

A ticketing error involving BTS’ upcoming Las Vegas concert left some fans with canceled VIP orders and non-refundable travel expenses after tickets the ticketing giant cancelled sales for tickets they told customers were mistakenly released.

The issue affected tickets for BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’ IN LAS VEGAS at Allegiant Stadium on Wednesday, May 27. Ticketmaster lists the show as part of BTS’ Las Vegas run at Allegiant Stadium, which also includes dates on May 23, May 24 and May 28.

According to Ticketmaster, the canceled tickets were VIP inventory that had been reserved for the company’s Ticket Request program but inadvertantly released by Allegiant Stadium staff during a limited sale of production holds this week. Ticketmaster said the issue was isolated to the Las Vegas event and that affected buyers would receive refunds within 5 to 7 days.

Impacted fans immediately cried foul over the clawback, turning the incident into a broader referendum on Ticketmaster, a company that has faced repeated criticism over ticketing errors, pricing transparency and high-demand sales that leave fans feeling shut out or misled.

Across X, many directed their anger at the ticketing giant, arguing that Ticketmaster has made mistakes before and that a reimbursement does little to fix lost travel costs, lost time and the disappointment of believing they had secured highly sought-after BTS seats.

Notably, ahead of the initial tour sales, fans complained that key information, including ticket prices, fees, seating maps and sale terms, had not been disclosed in advance, leading to widespread criticism on social media.

In Mexico, consumer protection agency Profeco intervened after receiving more than 4,700 complaints and requests from BTS fans seeking clarity about pricing, added charges, seating maps, presale rules and other sales conditions.

Profeco said it would impose a fine of more than 5 million pesos (approximately $277,800) for alleged legal violations during the sale of tickets for the three concerts that the K-Pop superstars of BTS are set to hold at the GNP Seguros Stadium.

The Las Vegas cancellation also comes as Ticketmaster and parent company Live Nation continue to face legal scrutiny over their role in the live-events industry.  A coalition of states led by New York Attorney General Letitia James recently said a jury found Live Nation and Ticketmaster liable for violating federal and state laws through anticompetitive conduct.

Separately, District of Columbia residents who bought tickets through Live Nation or Ticketmaster may qualify for refunds under a $9.9 million settlement involving allegations of deceptive pricing practices, including hidden fees and misleading sales tactics.
