Broadway is preparing for a reunion as “The Book of Mormon” marks its 15th anniversary with a limited run of special performances featuring members of its original cast.
The Tony Award-winning musical will host a weeklong celebration titled “Magical Mormon Mystery Week,” scheduled for June 9 through June 14 at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre. The event is set to bring back several of the production’s original stars, who will join the current company onstage in a rotating series of appearances designed to vary from night to night.
Among those returning are Tony nominees Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells, who originated the roles of Elder Cunningham and Elder Price, respectively. They will be joined by Tony Award winner Nikki M. James, who first portrayed Nabulungi, and Tony nominee Rory O’Malley, known for his performance as Elder McKinley.

The anniversary plans were detailed by the show’s co-creators, Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and Robert Lopez. They indicated that each performance throughout the special engagement will present a distinct lineup of scenes and songs featuring the returning cast members. Instead of staging a full recreation of the original production, the approach is designed to deliver a varied experience at every show, mixing recognizable highlights with surprise additions.
In addition to the principal original cast members, the anniversary performances are expected to include appearances by members of the musical’s original Broadway ensemble. Parker, Stone, and Lopez are also slated to take part in select performances, alongside additional guest artists connected to the show’s history.
